TRACK, March 2008
We are back from a great time at Big Mountain in Whitefish, Montana. This year was a little different than in the past as it was a combined trip with not only the Skihasen but with the Sitzmarks of Milwaukee. It was fun to meet new people to ski and socialize with. The clubs would like to thank Cal Wheeler and Dawn Peterman for setting up the trip and Jeff Lindsey and Cal for being our trip leaders.
Big Mountain had received over 300" of snow this year and approximately 4-6" of new snow while we were there. This made for great skiing on the groomed, un-groomed, and tree lined runs. I think everyone found something that they liked. Even though we had ski-in, ski-out accommodations, I think everyone took advantage of the good food at the summit restaurant for lunch. The free bus transportation from the ski village to the town of Whitefish provided access to grocery stores and shopping. A good time was had by all.
The Board is continuing to plan social events for this summer. Please check the events calendar for the latest activities. The Downhillers will again be participating in the summer baseball league. Also, the Board is beginning to plan the western trip for 2009. If you have any suggestions on destinations that you would like to go to, contact one of the board members either by phone or email at www.downhillers.org.

"	10:19 a.m. A call was made about a vehicle in the parking lot of a Kalispell business with a broken window.
"	2:19 p.m. Someone called in from Bigfork to say they could smell the heady aroma of marijuana nearby.
"	3:32 p.m. Deputies responded to a call about a man who suspiciously parked outside a Jehovah's Witness church in Bigfork. They found out he was stealing electricity with an extension cord he had hooked up to the church. They told him to leave.
Wednesday 2/13/2008
"	10:33 p.m. A man was pulled over and arrested for an outstanding warrant at Kiwanis Park. His dog and truck were impounded.
Thursday 2/14/2008
"	6:17 a.m. A man on Columbia Falls Stage Road called the Sheriff's Department to inform them that he had captured a 12-year-old runaway who was trying to steal his car. Deputies picked him up and returned him to his family.
"	2:30 a.m. Someone called in from Rose Crossing in Kalispell because they say a green Subaru stopping at all the mailboxes in the neighborhood. The driver was not stealing mail but delivering newspapers.
The Western Trip went well. We are already discussing options for next year. CMCS is going to Lake Tahoe in March. We may consider that trip or our own earlier in the winter. If you have any suggestions or comments send an email to trips@downhillers.org.
